LEMAR has its first publication out—The Case For the Relegalization of Marijuana. It is available at the FIFTH ESTATE Bookstore and Mixed Media for 25 cents. This group’s next major printing project will be the LaGuardia Report. Speakers are available to high schools, colleges, and any interested private groups. John Sinclair spoke before an assembly at Royal Oak Kimball High School on Feb. 16th to a very receptive audience. If you are interested in a speaker from LEMAR call or write the group at the address below.
LEMAR also plans to be active in the protective associations that are currently being formed in Detroit. The purpose of these associations will be to insure that the civil liberties of young people are not violated when they come into contact with the police, (especially in cases concerning marijuana).
Plans for a Law Day Celebration for Love, the Midwest Conference on Consciousness Expansion, and a psychedelic information center, are still under way. Help is needed lining up publicity, bands, and people to work. Also plans for a massive spring plant-in are underway; seeds to be planted all over Michigan in parks, in front of jails, in front of City Hall, everywhere that there’s dirt and sunshine.
LEMAR needs support both physically and financially to make many of these projects happen. Memberships are available for $1.00 a month. For further information send 25 cents or contributions (to cover mailing and handling costs) to LEMAR Detroit, 4857 John C. Lodge, Detroit 48201, or call 822-0041 or 831-6840.
