The Anti-war Learn-in Conference on March 27 held by the May Day Coalition will have a special caucus for youth. This caucus will be centered on getting ideas and resources together to educate and organize high school and junior high students. If there is a large number of community college students and young people in organizations for community service, then possibly the group may want to subdivide.
This conference and the March on the Warren Tank Plant will be the main local anti-war events this spring. The participation of high school students and other young people is extremely important.
In contrast to most previous anti-war demonstrations and actions in the Detroit area, this one will not be a one-day-march-in-the-streets affair. The May Day Coalition wants to stimulate and aid local indigenous organizing. People in their schools and in their shops and plants should organize themselves around their local issues and link them up with opposition to the war in Indochina.
The Conference, the Speakers Bureau, all the educational material, and any other programs started by the May Day Coalition are designed to get people into organizing themselves. DO IT!
